Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck – Paragon

Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck at Paragon is a must share with you guys! They have the best peking duck in Singapore!

My family and I have frequent Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck for many times and it has never once failed or disappoint us regardless of their food or services. I must also say that all their staff are friendly ranging from chef to waiter/waitress!

One main point to note is that you must definitely make reservation for having dinner at Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck if not you will most probably not get a seat and they do have a timing for sitting, dinner timing is from 6 to 7.30pm or 8pm and the next slot if 730 or 8pm till closing, so it would be better if you check with them!

Alright, enough of saying, here comes the pictures.

Peking Duck S$68

Peking Duck S$68

To enjoy this duck, please remember to pre-order it when you are reserving your seats! One duck is enough for about 6 to max 7 people. And here’s the interesting part, the chef will take the peking duck out and slice it infront of you. Depending on the number of people, he or she will prepare the number of slices of the peking duck skin for you (see top right picture, we had 7 people, so there were only 7 slices.) You will have to dip it in sugar and dark sweet sauce, and it is one of the best combination you can find! Next, a place of duck lean meat will be brought to you (refer to bottom left picture). The lean meat is so juicy and moist that you will want to have one after another. This plate of lean meat is also for you to wrap it with the Popiah sheet, sping onion and cucumber that will be served to you when the duck arrives. Lastly, a plate of fatty duck meat will be served to you (bottom right), same as the lean meat, juicy and moist but here it carries a little fats for fatty meat lovers!

Chicken Fish Maw Soup S$28

Chicken Fish Maw Soup S$28

Calling out to all Fish maw lovers! You will definitely love this soup because it is made of good fish maw and the soup is very tasty and it is full of collagen, good for women!

Seafood Tofu

Seafood Tofu

A good and savory dish to go along with rice if you are tofu and seafood lover!

Crab Claw with NuErHong S$15

Crab Claw with NuErHong S$15

This is another all-time favourite of mine! A hassle-free crab meal with tasty soup base! My family members all love this and I have brought my colleagues there to try this out and all of them love this too! Please remember to pre-order this when you are making seat reservation to avoid disappointment!

Bella Pizza – Authentic Italian Pizza By True-Blue Neapolitan Chef

Based on the signboard, Bella Pizza, one must definitely expect them to have great, beautiful and tasty pizza. Having seeing many blogs raving about the good pizza of Bella Pizza, I have decided to head there and give it a try.

This little cosy restaurant is located in a quiet corner of Robertson Quay, but do not be mixed up with another outlet of theirs, Bella Pasta which is also along Robertson Quay so do take note which restaurant you are entering!

As it was a treat for my friend’s birthday, she has decided on the dishes that we will try out that day and here it goes.

Portobello Ripieno S$20

Portobello Ripieno is an oven baked stuffed portobello mushroom, served with porcini mushroom sauce. Well, if you ask me for a one word description – special is the word I will use. Not the normal chewy mushroom texture you can find in this dish but it is filled with mashed portobello.

Spaghetti Alle Vongole S$22

Spaghetti Alle Vongole S$22

If you have been following my blog, you would have noticed that Spaghetti Alle Vongole is almost a must-order dish if I head to an Italian restaurant. The vongole at Bella Pizza is not fantastic, but it is not awful either, okay to give it a miss. Probably Bella Pasta which is further down the road will do a better job?

Pizza Salmone S$22

Pizza Salmone S$22

Pizza Salmone is a must try for smoker salmon lovers! Bella Pizza definitely live up to its name with the right thinness of the pizza, the filling was moist but not overly wet!

And to top of these, Bella Pizza has a wide range of wines at very reasonable pricing so you must definitely order one of it to go along with their pretty well-done pizza!

Somewhere near Robertson Quay or thinking of a good pizza dine-out place? Try out Bella Pizza’s pizza! I would recommend you to call for reservation to avoid disappointment!

Amici Authentic Italian Restaurant – Wonders For Every Moment

Chunked at a corner in Holland Village, Amici has grew my interest in going there for a meal with it Italian feel outlook. The moment you stepped into the restaurant, you will be overwhelmed with the strong ‘English-Italian’ atmosphere, from the music to paintings hang on the wall, to the chairs and tables, you will be totally have the feeling that you have stepped into an authentic Italian restaurant (which indeed you have!).

Frito ai calamari ($13.90)

I have a fetish for calamari every time I visit a restaurant that has this dish as a starter, it is always the first on my list because I just find it great for sharing! This deep fried calamari is tasty and not too oily. You know, some of the restaurant just simply gives you a plate of oil instead of calamari, but for this, it is not too oily and the marination is just nice.

Escargot ($23.90 for one dozen)

It was my first time trying escargot which is also the oven baked snails with garlic butter therefore I am unable to comment whether it is nice or not. For those who have yet to try escargot before, it just tasted like fresh sautéed white mushroom stirred fried with garlic butter. I may have not describe the escargot well so I apologize to those who love to eat escargot first. Maybe you can drop a comment on places that have better escargot so I can try it out next time.

Caesar ($12.90)

The caesar salad includes romaine lettuce with bacon, anchovies, mustard, eggs, croutons & parmesan cheese. You may choose to add on chicken breast or smoked salmon for only $5. I am not a fan of caesar salad because some places are just bad with the sauce, so I can only say this is another place where I will order caesar because the lettuce used are quite fresh, their sauce tasted just right and there are enough sauce to go with the lettuce.

Pizza hawaii ($18.90)

As the name ‘Hawaii’ suggest, this pizza is full of sweet honey ham & pineapples. Amici is very generous with the amount of ham and pineapples, even when the dish was left to cold, the pizza is still very tasty! A must order dish if you are a fan of hawaii pizza.

Spaghetti alle vongole ($18.90)

The highlight of vongole is always the white wine sauce and the clams. If the white wine sauce is not too strong and the clams are fresh, this dish hardly goes wrong. For Amici, I was actually expecting a tastier vongole, probably expectation were higher than actual so this dish did not surprise me too much and the clams were not exactly fresh, probably the way they handle the clams were not too well done, there is still a stench of smelly smell from the fresh clams. The white wine sauce was a little too salty so if you are a fan of vongole, like me, maybe you will want to skip this dish and go for others.

Linguine alle carbonara ($18.90)

This carbonara was cooked with sauteed bacon with egg drop and cheese. It is not too creamy and you will not get too sick of having this dish alone. Carbonara lovers, try it if you want to have try Amici’s cooking.

Tortellini con prosciutto e funghi ($19.90)

This dish is tortellini with ham & mushrooms in cream sauce. Like the carbonara, you will not get too sick having this whole plate to yourself. The pasta comes in green and red and they are stuffed with cheese. If you are someone who loves pasta stuffed with fillings, this may be the right dish for you.

Amici is a restaurant that I may go again and try out the pizza but not the pasta because the pasta just did not really fit my taste. So head down and give it a try to let me know what you think of it too!

Coffee Stars by Dao

Coffee Stars by Dao is a franchise store from the well known cafe in Thailand known as Coffee Beans by Dao. They have opened their first cafe-restaurant at Wisma Atria outside of its home country in South-East Asia.

The cafe opted for an open concept with a casual, yet elegant design and a chandelier as its centrepiece. It is not uncommon to see a long line of people waiting for a table, hoping to enjoy the authentic Thai cuisine and spread of international desserts therefore, it is better for you to make a reservation in advance. I had a casual dinner with my family there and we were lucky that we made a reservation before 7pm if not we would be at the queue area for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Green Mango Salad with Shrimp and Roasted Coconut

I am not a fan of green mango salad but I have to say that this dish is really very appetizing. It does not taste very sour and the fruits were really crunchy. Something that you may want to try if you are a fan for green mango.

Crispy Shrimp Rolls

Sorry for the strong colour for this photo, the actual one looks more golden brown. I would say this dish is quite normal because it is like a deep fried prawn stuffed with fish meat in popiah skin. Not very special if you eat it plainly, I will recommend you to dip it into the sweet sauce that comes together with this dish to bring the taste of this dish to the best level.

Chicken Wrapped in Pandan Leaf

This is kind of tasty, but compared to the ones I had in Bangkok, I still find that the marination for this chicken should be stronger.

Sauteed Red Curry Pork

I find that this dish is nice to me but my dad thinks otherwise. He being a indian and local curry lover, kind of boycotted this dish. But if you are looking for Thai curry, I would say that this dish is definitely up to standard.

Tom Yum Prawn

When I tried this dish, it kinds of remind me that about the tom yum soup I had in Bangkok at Platinum Fashion Mall. It is not very spicy and sour and it did not had any coconut milk in it, so if you are the kind who like clear broth which is not too spicy or sour, then give it a try!

Sticky Rice and Pork Neck

This is considered the best dish we had among all that we have ordered. The pork was very juicy, tender and tasty, sticky rice was very fragrant. Again, it will remind you of the one you have in Bangkok if you ever had one.

Black Olive and Pork Fried Rice

This dish is quite normal, just that it have the wok-fried smell and I guess it is the smell where quite a few of us are looking for when it comes to fried rice.

Pasta Shrimp Garlic and Chilli

Give this dish a miss if you were ever thinking of trying it. It’s a little oily, not even a taste of chilli, spaghetti was rather overcooked. Totally disappointed with this.

Pasta Salmon Cream Sauce

Go for this if you are fan of cream sauce and salmon. It is very nice and do not have the smelly fish smell of the salmon, my guess is that they probably used very fresh salmon for this dish so there is not smell of the salmon.

It is worth a try, and the drinks there are quite nice too, dessert are nice also just that I have forgotten to take a photo of them. But note to you again, remember to make a reservation for peak hours!

15 minutes cafe – Friends Food & Fame (CLOSED)

Heard alot about this cafe and decided to head down to bugis area specially just to try it out.

Called about 4 plus in the afternoon that day to make a reservation for dinner at 7pm but was informed by the staff that reservations were full. They had this special cozy corner just for reservation, and if you failed to make a reservation, you will be directed to seats whereby it operates like you are in a canteen. So to avoid disappointment and to enjoy comfortable seats, make you reservation slightly earlier.

Cheese Fries $5.20

The cheese and mayonnaise sauce were not enough for the large amount of fries so it was a little pity. If you were to choose a side to share, maybe you can choose other sides but not this. (Nine Fried Chicken smells good cause the table beside us actually ordered that, go ahead and try and comment to let me know if it is really good.)

Smoked Salmon ‘Carbonara’ $13.90

It was such a disappointment as compared to the smoked salmon pasta I had previously with Italiannies. This dish is actually penne in cream sauce with smoked salmon & peas. I think they should just skip the peas, it spoils the taste of the dish and penne was rather hard, a minute longer in cooking the penne would be perfecto.

Prawn & Mushroom Aglio Olio $11.90

This dish is spaghetti cooked aglio olio style with chilli, onion, garlic, white wine, prawns and king oyster mushroom. It sounded a little oriental to me with king oyster mushroom and onion in this dish. My friend had this and I had some of it. I can assure you that even I can cook way better aglio olio than this. The spaghetti was rather dry and the taste of it was neither the fragrant taste of garlic and chilli but instead, the onions.

From my review, you may think that this cafe must be quite empty but surprisingly, the place was rather packed by 8pm so maybe you can head down earlier to get seats if you really want to try it and enjoy their band performance from 9pm onwards. My friend and I skipped the band performance because the area was a little too noisy for conversation as we were literally raising our voices when we were just sitting across each other therefore I recommend that unless you are near to the area, you can go down and give it a try, because you may be disappointed if you specially make your trip down for them. (I may still visit them again for their pizza and main courses, just in case that pasta might not be the dishes that their chefs are strong in.)

Whampoa Keng Fish Head Steamboat

I had always wanted to try this after being recommended that it has one of the nicest fish head steamboat. There are actually 4 very famous fish head steamboat in Singapore and to be frank, non of the other 3 has make me leave an impression of them except for this Whampoa Keng. I am rather surprised by the bad review about Whampoa Keng on Hungrygowhere.com because my first encounter with them was rather pleasant.

For a table of 5, we ordered a medium grouper steamboat ($40) which I was also shocked to this high price for a fish steamboat, a plate of kangkong, prawn paste chicken and a plate of prawn.

Fish head steamboat

The soup is very tasty, there’s milk in it and I especially love fish soup with milk. It tasted like the soup was cooked for long hours and very flavourful (I know that a few hungrygowhere reviewers actually say that it contains high level of MSG but to say the truth, I do not think so.) Because my sister and I are very sensitive to MSG but we really find that it is okay. Worth giving this a try if you have a few friends with you if not you can go for the individual bowl but they do not serve individual after 5pm.

Kang kong belacan

okay, to be frank, I am a lover of kang kong so if I visit any tse char store with kangkong, I will usually order them. Kangkong is rather crunchy, not soft(you know there are places that cook kangkong till a little too soft). But it is rather spicy as compared to Ban Tong Seafood Restaurant.

Prawn Paste Chicken

A must order dish! Very crunchy, very flavourful and not oily! I was rather shocked to see that there were reviews commenting that it was too oily and no flavouring at all. The prawn was not actually appetizing for me so I did not even take any photo of it.

I began to suspect that it could because I went during lunch time and there aren’t a lot of customers so the cook may be more relax in cooking hence the good standard of food. So to avoid any disappointment, maybe you give it a try during lunch time instead since they served quite fast too.

Ban Tong Seafood Restaurant

Most families will have a casual dinner at tse char stores which is quite popular in Singapore, but to locate a few nice tse char stores is not easy in Singapore.

Recommended by the TV program, my family decided to head down to Ban Tong Seafood Restaurant located at Clementi. Dishes were served very fast and the aunties there were friendly. If you are near by Clementi and craving for Tse Char, you can try to head down to this place which is just right opposite of Pei Tong Primary School.

Steamed Red Grouper in Hong Kong Style

Ban Tong do not serve whole fish, all they serve is only the head/tail portion of the fish. This is because they say the fish they have are all very big in size and they do not take in small/medium size fish. I like this fish because I like steamed fish, especially grouper and especially it is in Hong Kong Style, totally my kind of fish. But I guess it could be due to the fact that it is a big sized fish, the meat is a little tough, just that little bit, but overall it is well-cooked. A must order dish if you ever visit them.

Kang kong with belacan

Very nice kangkong, it is a little different with the ones we usually had with the tse char stores. Theirs are a little thinner, I called them the baby kangkong. It is not very spicy even though you will find it a little too red initially.

Pork Ribs King

A must order dish if you are a pork rib lover! This dish is very well done! Meat is very tender in the inside and flavouring on the outside were just nice, not too sweet!

Cereal Crayfish

It is like ceral prawns but just that it is crayfish instead. This dish is very crispy and I can assure you that the crayfish were very fresh. You wouldn’t want to miss this dish there because it is also one of the speciality.

Flat chicken

Even though this is one of their speciality, SKIP this dish. It is rather awful, I had even better ones in my neighbourhood. It is like they mixed the chicken meat with fish meat and present it to you with chicken skin on top of it. It is rather an awful dish for me because I tasted the awful chicken smell coming from the chicken skin. If you really want to have chicken, I would suggest you to take up prawn paste chicken there. I’ve seen alot of tables ordering that and the smell of the prawn paste chicken was very good. We wanted to have that but my dad insisted on trying this flat chicken speciality of theirs. I would probably head down and try out the prawn paste chicken next time.

Wild Honey – All day breakfast

Been wanting to try out Wild Honey as I have heard from many about its all day breakfast menu so I went ahead with 4 of my girlfriends to try out how good it actually taste. Ambiance was rather nice and cosy, a place where you might considered hanging out in the afternoon for a brunch if you want to feel ‘English’ for the start of the day. Menu ordering was done over the counter, the minute you step it, you have to decide what you want over the counter. But no worries, they will not rush you into making orders so you do have ample time to browse through the menu. Their service were great as they consistently came over to our table to refill the ice/warm water, ensuring that food served was great and all. No issue about the service and now onto food.

English

English – The classic full breakfast; creamy scrambled eggs, pork sausage, sauteed mushrooms, dad’s baked potatoes, bacon and vine ripened tomato with toasted brioche.

Reviews: Scrambled eggs, sausage were pretty normal, something that you can definitely get it from outside and cook it yourself.  Only great about this dish were the sauteed mushroom and the baked potatoes, great flavouring and everyone commented that this particular sides on this dish were great. Overall review about this is that it is not exactly fantastic but one of the better ones among all I have tasted.

Californian

Californian (V) – Eggs softly scrambled with tofu, yellow and red peppers, fresh herbs on char-grilled ciabatta.

Reviews: Probably because I am not from California and I never had a liking for the colourful peppers, I had difficulty liking this dish. It was rather plain and tasteless if not for the mushrooms that were mixed in. Its not one of the dish I would recommend you to order if you visit Wild Honey.

Scandinavian

Scandinavian – Grilled fresh Norwegian salmon and green asparagus, potato rosti, potato rosti and hollandaise sauce.

Reviews:  One of the best dish among all I have tasted! Salmon was perfectly done (Not overcooked neither it was raw) and it is juicy! You will not want to miss this dish out! Commenting on this dish makes my saliva drool now, I will definitely go back there again just for this dish!

Grilled Chicken Sandwich

NEW: Open faced, grilled chicken sandwich with onions, wild rockets, tomatoes and fresh Pommerey mustard mayonnaise.

Reviews:  If you are looking for soft bread/sandwich then this is not the kind for you. Chicken part used was chicken breast (not many of them like it but yes, I am one the weirdo who love to eat chicken breast) but this was rather dry and a little tough. If you are one the chicken breast lover, you should know that there are vendors out there able to cook or grill chicken breast into perfect state where the juice were actually locked within them. Not the kind of dish I will like.

Okay, out of 4 dishes I tried, I liked 2 of them. Hence, it is still pretty worth the trip down to try out, so people, head down now and try it. Be sure to comment or introduce dishes which are nice and that I have not try out so I can give it a try next time round!

Italiannies (CLOSED)

My sister gave me a card that comes with a free pizza at Italiannies so I decided to try it out with one of my girlfriend.

Reached there quite late, nearing to 830pm on a weekday and it was about 3/4 full. Considering the time and the location it is at, it seems to be of a good business. The environment was rather cosy and it do have a bit of’ ‘Atas’ feeling.

Italiannies Interior

Then we were brought to our seats and we were given ample time to look through the menu and deciding what to eat (well, you know, some restaurant service staffs were rather impatient and keep asking you what you want after like 5 mins).

After making our order, we were serve with the complimentary combination of bread and  foccacia. It was considered tasty and you will also enjoy just eating it like that without dipping into the olive oil and vinegar given. But the olive oil and vinegar given were just as flavourful and you will not want to give it a miss too.

Complimentary bread

The food that we ordered were enough for sharing – Fried prawns and calamari, Salmon fettuccine and seafood pizza.

Fried prawns and calamari ($16)

This is definitely one of the dishes that I will order again when I visit them the next time! Its one the best calamari I have eaten. Some calamari sold in other restaurant are hard and difficult to chew and you always faced with the embarrassment that you are unable to cut the calamari into chewable size on your plate or you are unable to bite it off with your teeth. FRET NOT HERE! In Italiannies, the calamari are easy to chew, easy to cut, perfectly cooked and tasted nice. Prawns are good too and when this dish were being brought to your table, the fragrant of this dish just makes you want to finish it up quickly! And even when this dish were left to cold, it is still very yummy and no taste of too much oil used to fried it. It’s a must order!

Salmon Fettuccine ($18)

This dish is totally worth the price! It is fettuccine pasta tossed with vodka, smoked salmon and spring onions in a pink sauce. When it first came, I thought it was rather creamy but it is actually not. It is no where like carbonara where you will get sick of eating it but I guess it is also because I shared this with my friend so I find it was tasty and refreshing, but then again Italiannies food were meant to be shared!

Seafood pizza ($18)

I was rather glad that this dish was free not because the ingredients on it was not worth the price but rather the dough and the shells make it not worth the price. The seafood spread on it was rather even but each slice has about one or two pieces of seafood only. The mussels and clams were rather disappointing because they were rather smelly, tasted not fresh and overcooked. The dough was a little hard for a thin crust pizza, I had a hard time cutting it into smaller pieces and end up giving in to using my hands. However, the tomatoes and cheese on top of it was worth mentioning. It is tasty but a little salty for people who do not like salty stuffs. Overall, this seafood pizza is not worth ordering.

Do take note that they do not serve ice water for free but they do sell mineral water. So it would be better for you to try out the drinks there instead of buying mineral water. We ordered grape freeze ($6.90) and grape delight ($14.90). Initially I thought that they would just use some grape syrup (like what others do) and blended it off as a grape freeze but I was wrong! The grape freeze was made of real grape and it tasted very nice and refreshing. While the grape delight was fresh grape, raspberry vodka, crème de cassis, red wine and a splash of soda. For people who loved vodka, go ahead and try this because Italiannies is very generous in the vodka amount.

Chunked at a quiet spot of Orchard Road, it is a good place for some quiet dining away from the buzzing area along Orchard Road. It is a place where I will visit again but this time probably for the pasta and not the pizza. So head down now to try it!

Fruit Paradise

I came to know about fruit paradise through my friend as she say it was really nice, fruit was fresh and you wouldn’t get sick over eating it. Since I was being strongly recommended to try this, I will definitely head down to try it.

It was really refreshing and light as an after meal dessert and you will just carry on eating unknowingly till it was gone.

Chocolate Strawberry

Do not be fooled by the super creamy look of it. I have brought many of my other friends and family there to try out the tarts and none of them complained about it being too creamy or it tasted too creamy. Fruits are really fresh and me being a strawberry lover, I can assure you that their strawberries are really fresh and sweet. The base of the tarts were crispy and sweet which is delicious!

Fruit paradise has about 4 outlets namely in Raffles City, Vivocity, Orchard Central and Tampines 1. I have tried out the tarts in the 3 branches except the Tampines 1 and I personally feel that somehow, Vivocity branch still has the best standard (such as fruits being fresh, tarts based tasted crispy and the taste of the cream will not give you a ‘sick’ feeling). So my recommendation for you will be to head down to the Vivocity branch to avoid any disappointment.

And also, for a price of S$6.80 – 7.80 per slice, the tarts are of reasonable pricing, considering the fact that the size of the tart is quite an ideal size for one and the ingredients used. Alternatively, you may also opt for a fruit tart set which cost S$9.80 that comes with a slice of fruit tart with a pot of tea or a cup of coffee (recommended to opt for tea instead).

A few delicious tarts I would recommend will be Strawberry Mont Blanc (Strawberry with Chestnut Cream) and Mixed Berry Chocolate Tart (Blueberries, Strawberries with chestnut/almond cream).

So head down now to try, hope you will like it too!
